4/26/2018: I am practically done with my thesis paper. I started on the layout of my powerpoint presentation
4/6/18: I am almost finished with watching all of Daisy Marquez's youtube videos. She has multiple little tricks like how to make the colors more vibrant without spending any extra money on extra products. I also really like her because her looks are unique and she's very creative.
3/28/2018: On this day I actually spent a lot of time figuring the best deals for printing my portfolio. Some options/brands are way more expensive than I can afford, so I spent my time looking for deals for that specific reason. I honestly think Walmart is going to be the cheapest. I also began proofreading the five pages that I had written in the previous class because I don't like to edit papers that I just wrote.
3/22/2018: On this day I wrote 5 more pages to my thesis paper that is due after we present our projects. I also worked on the organization of my art portfolio that I will be getting professionally printed into a book.
3/7/2018: Today was SAT day for the juniors so we stayed in the computer lab. As the day being before TAG-IT, we all kind of we were in a state of relaxation, but I still revised the five page essay that I turned in last semester because I plan to use some of it in my final paper for Thesis.
3/1/2018: Today I researched the best cameras and equipment that I should use to take the best photos of the work I do. I have a canon camera and a ring light and that is good for now because the ring light helps to capture the true colors of the makeup and it doesn't distort the colors to portray a false coloration.
2/27/2018: I watched tutorials over three different looks that I want to try to recreate this weekend. I watched tutorials from Daisy Marquez, Desi Perkins and Aidette Cancino. I am going to try to recreate a bronzey look that will look the best at a day event.
1/12/2018: During this class period I made a list of materials and new supplies I might need to be more prepared for my future clients. I also looked up places to get the item for as cheap as possible to make it easier for my mom, since she would be the one to pay for most of the makeup since I don't have a job. I only really narrowed it down to base makeup and an eyeshadow palette. Those are really two of the most important items.
1/19/2018: During this class I fixed all social media pages for my makeup project so that I can find people willing to let me practice on them. Since getting your makeup done is in high demand right now, it is not that hard to find faces to practice on. I also wanted to make sure my social media was all up to date with my business information so that people had a professional way of contacting me.
1/23/2018: Today I presented my thesis powerpoint, and after that, I listened to my classmates' and wrote them feedback notes.
1/25/2018: Today I watched thesis presentations and wrote my classmates notes.
2/2/2018: Today I watched thesis presentations and wrote my classmates notes.
2/8/2018: I was tardy for this class, but when I arrived I worked on planning all of my clients on an according schedule that works best for the client and myself. I have to account for school stuff and a lot of soccer, so I have to make sure I don't overbook.
2/16/2018: I did research to find the best order to apply makeup. For example, I found that doing eyebrows before anything is most efficient. After that it's best to do eyeshadow first and then face makeup like foundation. The reason for this is that eyeshadow tends to have fall out and it gets all over the face, so if you already have the face makeup on, then the fall out messes up everything and sometimes you might have to wipe off all the face makeup and start all over. That is a very inefficient way to apply makeup. I made my own little routine for applying makeup so I have something to stick to every time I do someone's makeup.
2/23/2018: I did research regarding efficiency techniques when applying makeup. My whole deal with this project is that makeup services are highly requested in today's age, and a certified makeup artist can make up to $100 in less than one hour. I'm not in it for the money, but it is just mind-blowing how much makeup has gone from nothing at all to something big and growing.
12/13/2017: Today in thesis I sent my mom's tax return information to all of my schools that have accepted me so far, which took a long time, and I am also half way done with my term paper, so that's great.
12/7/2017: Today in thesis I worked on the outline and formatting of my term paper that is due this six weeks. I actually felt productive because I'm not waiting to do the paper at the last minute as usual. I feel pretty confident in my paper and what it has to offer because I've learned a lot so far about my particular topic.
12/1/2017: This day I worked on finishing the Terry Foundation Scholarship, and after that I looked for more local scholarships, and I found one that doesn't have many requirements, which allowed me to finish it in class. All I have to do for it to be submitted is to take my application and drop it off at a building in Desoto which is the city that I live in. I also wrote a rough draft essay for a separate scholarship that is offered for women in cyber security.
11/29/2017: Today in thesis we worked on college stuff. I began filling out my information for the Terry Scholarship at UTD, and I am almost done with it although it was a pretty long application. I also applied to more colleges that don't have much extra requirements like rec letters.
11/27/2017: Today in class we worked on our thesis projects. I updated my Instagram profile and uploaded pictures of the three makeup looks I have done so far. I also did research on wedding makeup look tips because I will be getting paid $360 for this event, so I want to make sure my skills are on point. I also researched what it took to become a certified makeup artist, but unfortunately that requires me to enroll at a cosmetology school which is way too expensive and unrealistic. Instead, I asked my mentor, my cousin and certified makeup artist what she suggests I do instead. We came up with a plan where I go with her to her some of her appointments to observe and learn, which I'm really looking forward to because I love the way she does makeup and I also learn most affectively by watching and trying to replicate her techniques.
